The Nasarawa state government has completed the construction of a diagnostic centre where residents in the state can easily access treatment of infectious diseases.

Governor Abdullahi Sule, inspected the new infectious disease centre in Lafia, Nasarawa state capital on Friday, noted that he was satisfied with the quality of work done by the contractors.

According to the governor, “when fully equipped, it shall serve not only the purpose of treatment of the coronavirus but other infectious diseases like Ebola, lassa fever and even malaria”.

The Governor told newsmen that the project was initiated by his predecessor, but because he takes the healthcare of his people as a top priority, he ensured the completion of the project within the shortest possible time.

“We shall be commissioning the research centre very soon. I will also want you to know that the equipping of the centre may not be done alongside with the commissioning, however, you are aware that Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) visited the state days ago, which they were taken round by the deputy governor and the Chief Medical Director”, the governor said.

Sule noted that the State Government is in talking terms with partners who have indicated interest to support the equipping of the centre to ensure that it becomes fully operational for research.
