A mob has beat a transformer vandal to death after he was electrocuted and fell down from a high tension cable. The vandal identified as Jerry Okpo hailed from Okodia, Yenegoa.

He was electrocuted at a transformer base along Osiri road, Yenagoa local government area on Wednesday 10th August at about 2 a.m.

According to an eye witness, Okpo with his two friends were at the transformer base to vandalise electrical installations.

“Okpo climbed up the pole and stood on the high tension wire, not long there was power supply, the transformer got blown and his body was on fire. He struggled to get down while the other two ran away.”

“People in the neighbourhood came out at the sound of the transformer. They interrogated him but he refused to talk. When he was up on the pole and was pleading for help he mentioned names of persons he was working with but he went silent the minute he fell down the transformer, so the mob got angry and beat him to death.”

The remains of the deceased were picked up by the police to the
Federal Medical Center (FMC), Yenagoa.

Meanwhile, the Bayelsa state volunteer security outfit has arrested one Godsent Oruouna Brain, a leader of local cult gang in the area called Bobos.

Brain who hails from Amassoma community in Southern Ijaw local government area, was declared wanted following several report that he has been terrorizing the Tombia/Etegwe axis of Yenagoa.

The suspect in a confession to the media unit of the state owned security outfit confirmed to be a member of the Bobos cult group and the leader of the gang.

A stolen phone recovered from the suspect has been returned to the owner before he was handed over to the men of the Operation Doo Akpo, an outfit of the police in Bayelsa state.
