Members of Staff of the Joint Tax Board were among the participants at the 2025 Tax Clinic held in Lagos State.
The clinic with the theme “Tax Clinic for Clarity”, was organised by the Emerging Taxpayers’ Group of the Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS with the aim of strengthening inter-agency collaboration to improve taxpayers’ support services within the Nigerian tax ecosystem.
The Two (2) day clinic was attended by taxpayers’ groups, States Internal Revenue Service and partner institutions offering integrated services within the Nigerian tax ecosystem including the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Tax Appeal Tribunal (TAT), National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and professional bodies – CITN, ANAN, NBA along with the Nigerian Medical Association.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman, FIRS, Zacch Adedeji, PhD, said the clinic demonstrates effort to further simplify tax services while making service providers more accessible to taxpayers.
“This initiative is not merely an event; it is a demonstration of our commitment to a tax system that is inclusive, transparent, and responsive to the needs of all Nigerians—particularly those in the small business, entrepreneurial, and informal sectors.”
“The theme of this year’s clinic aptly reflects our mission: to demystify taxation, promote voluntary compliance, and provide direct, accessible support to taxpayers. We firmly believe that sustainable compliance begins with understanding. When citizens clearly grasp their tax obligations, rights, and the value of their contributions to national development, compliance is no longer a burden—it becomes a civic responsibility,”Adedeji said.
