Mr. Simon Lalong, Governor of Plateau State.
By Marie-Therese Nanlong
Jos – The People’s Democratic Party, PDP in Plateau State has accused the State Governor, Simon Lalong of abandoning State duties to pursue his personal interest at the expense of the State and its citizens.
PDP also noted the desperation of Governor Lalong and his All Progressives Congress, APC in the State to continue in power beyond 2023 is an affront targeted at the good people of the state who have gained little or nothing from their seven and half years in office.
Addressing journalists in Jos shortly after the Party’s State Executive, SEC meeting on Tuesday, the State Publicity Secretary of the PDP, John Akans said the State has experienced an administration which has brought governance to a ridiculous stand still and expressed optimism that his Party will come on board in 2023 to liberate the people.
His words, “The leadership of the PDP on the Plateau is saddened by the state of affairs in the State. It is very clear that Plateau state is under siege with actors like the APC and Governor Lalong overrunning our state and daily eroding our heritage.

“The Governor in his usual manner has abandoned pressing issues of governance in the state for his personal interest while Plateau people are facing a bitter experience as a result of the leadership vacuum created by Lalong’s consistent absence. These perilous situations have left governance in the state stagnant while Lalong has continued to compromise the interest of the people.
“The Governor and his deputy have not been on their seat to address related crimes, corruption, kidnappings, and terrorism challenges Plateau people are facing, which is on the increase in the State. We caution Lalong not to further waste the acclaimed lean state resources in campaign activities of Tinubu…”
The Party cautions the governor to be mindful of his utterances as the campaigns kick offf saying, “… you all recall that Governor Lalong while hosting his senatorial zone APC stakeholders, openly told them that the PDP will not be part of the 2023 general elections.
“This kind of proclamation is unexpected for a leader. One wonders when the Governor suddenly became the spokesman of INEC. What a shame that a Governor can condescend so low to offer cheap propaganda and seek cheap popularity.
“Let Lalong be warned and reminded that 2023 elections will be conducted by INEC, not PLASIEC. We call on voters across the state to be wary and disregard the fake and deceitful propaganda by Governor Lalong on the legitimacy and existence of the Peoples Democratic Party.
“We wish to drum to the public that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Plateau State chapter will participate fully in the 2023 elections and to state too that what Plateau people need from Lalong for his remaining days in office is good governance, not this packaged lies and propaganda he holds on to as campaign documents trying to mislead the public including the helpless electorates…”
