Despite the fight against the insecurity bedeviling the Nigeria nation, some states in the country are currently faced with a harder hit as criminal elements continue to torment the citizenry with various forms of crimes.
In Imo state, South-East Nigeria, insecurity is becoming unbearable to the residents. On Wednesday 27th October, three persons were kidnapped at separate locations in the state and two persons were murdered at different occasions.
The prison break, unfavorable security mishap which threw residents of the state into confusion is now degenerating into a more worrisome situation as most of them now live in constant fear.
When contacted over the situation, the police public relations officer CSP Michael Abattam confirmed some of the incidents, he assured that the command is on top of the situation following the order of the commissioner of police CP Rabiu Hussaini and soon the perpetrators will be brought to book.

Earlier, residents of Nwangele local government area of the state were greeted with a deadly invasion of gunmen who stormed Okwelle Umuezealaibe community shooting sporadically in the air.
The deadly group grabbed their victim one Mr Fidelis Nnadi shot him in the head and left the scene.
According to an eye witness who spoke to The Dune Newspaper correspondent on condition of anonymity, “the slain Fidelis Nnadi pleaded with the strange-looking armed men to spare his life but his plead fell on deaf eyes. He was shot in the head and he died on the spot” the eyewitness said.
Similarly, another young man was shot at Akwuakwuma in Owerri north local government area of the state and he also died on the spot. Upon inquiry into the matter, residents of the area told The Dune Newspaper that they were thrown into serious state of confusion when the gunmen storm their community to perpetrate the nefarious act. The gun shots where so much that people had to run for their dare lives.

Another unfortunate one was the scene of a yet to be identified kidnap victim whose Mercedes-Benz G. Wagon was left behind after the abductors forcefully whisked the owner away.

Presently, residents of the state are worried that a once safe and secure state is now becoming a nightmare where people can no longer sleep with two eyes closed.
While the litanies of the security threats were happening the governor of the state Senator Hope Uzodimma was seen jetting out of the state to Abuja without a single pronouncement on the sad cases.
Stakeholders in the state have continuously expressed dissatisfaction over his frequent travel out of the state and not giving proper attention to governance and the seat of power he got through the supreme court on the 14th of January 2020.
The people of the state however seek government’s intervention in the area of security of lives and property which is the primary function of every reasonable government.
They equally call on the police and other security agencies in the state to rise up to the occasion, ensure the scourge of insecurity in the state is nip in the bud.
