The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has published the name of Mr Akanimo Udofia, as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Akwa Ibom State.
INEC in an amendment to the list of governorship candidates published on March 9, on its official website listed the name of Mr Udofia, 53 and his running mate, Mr Victor Etim Antai, 57.
Udofia’s membership of the All Progressives Congress and his emergence as candidate of the party was challenged up to the Supreme Court by a former Senior Special Assistant to the President (Niger Delta Affairs) Senator Ita Enang.

Senator Enang lost the appeal challenging Udofia’s membership status in the APC at the Supreme Court on Tuesday 7th March.
INEC has also published the name and particulars of Mr Uduakobong Peter Udoh and Mr Charles Ebongho as the governorship candidate and deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Akwa Ibom State.
Information on the portal indicates that the publication was made in compliance with Court Order.
