The Akwa Ibom state police command has received 1000 pieces of nose mask courtesy of Prince Mendy Archibong, Managing Director of Good Time Paints and Allied Industries Limited.
Archibong, who is a Port Harcourt based industrialist, an indigene of Ikpe Mbak Eyop in Obot Akara local government area, has been at the vanguard of supporting the Akwa Ibom state government’s effort to containing COVID-19 in the state.
Archibong had earlier sponsored community health specialists to sensitize students and teachers in rural schools in the state on COVID-19 and standard hygiene.

He had also donated food items to widows in Obot Akara local government to support the state government palliative as well as personal protective equipment to teachers and students in rural schools in Ikot Ekpene and Obot Akara local government area.
Presenting the nose masks to the Akwa Ibom state police command, Archibong said he was worried when he read reports that policemen who are at the forefront of enforcing the COVID-19 lockdown in the state were not using protective equipment.
Recall that The Dune had reported that security officers enforcing lockdown in Akwa Ibom state risked contracting Coronavirus because they were not using personal protective equipment.
Making the presentation to the police command through his friend, Abasifreke Effiong, on Monday 1st May, Archibong thanked policemen and other security agencies in the state who are working on the COVID-19 response even without protective equipment.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, the Police Public Relations Officer, Akwa Ibom state, Fredrick N-nudam thanked the donor for the gesture, assuring that the vest with be properly used.
“Let me particularly commend you for deeming it necessary at this critical time of our nation to support the police. Let me assure you that the nose masks received today will be appropriately used and will be distributed to our men who are in the field enforcing the lockdown to ensure that the state is safe”, the PPRO said.
