In a bid to ensure that rural communities in Nasarawa State are electrified, Governor, Abdullahi Sule has inaugurated a 300 kilowatt-peak solar power minigrid in six communities in the state.
He mentioned the communities to include; Rukubi, Idadu and Igbabo in Doma LGA and Kiguna, Akura and Gidan Buba in Lafia LGA.
Speaking while Inaugurating the project on Wednesday, the governor said that it became necessary to embark on rural electrification across the state as he observed that some residents of the state had no electricity for many years.
“So many people living in Nasarawa state are staying in these six communities that we are going to electrify and I am very delighted about the project. I want appeal to the community leaders to take the project very seriously and protect it from every harm.
“Apart from protecting the project, those who are handling the project should also be protected so that our dear state can continue to make progress. I also want to thank the Federal Government, World Bank and the African Development Bank for their support in making this project a reality”, the governor added.

Earlier in his speech, the CEO of Husk Power, Manoj Sinha, said that the project, a total of 300KWP minigrid will provide clean, reliable and affordable electricity to about 4,000 businesses and households in the area while noting that the project would support agricultural development and spur the economic growth of the state.
