The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel has approved the creation of a new Ministry to take care of Power and Petroleum Development .
This is coming on the heels of plans by the State Government to take-off its power for all by 2021 project.
The power for all by 2021 is a brainchild of the Udom Emmanuel administration and it is aimed to ensure that all households in the State have electricity by the end of the year 2021.
Governor Emmanuel swore in four new Commissioners on Monday 4th January 2021. One of the new Commissioners sworn in, Dr John Etim was appointed Commissioner of the new Ministry of Power and Petroleum Development.
Etim is a real estate investor; holds a Ph.D in Public Finance from American Trinity University. He is an alumnus of the University of Calabar; was the National President of Akwa Ibom State Association of Nigeria (AKISAN) in the United States of America (2014-2016) and has lived in Pennsylvania for about 20 years.

Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government(SSG) Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem in a release said Governor Emmanuel has approved the appointment of Uko Essien Udom, SAN, as the Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice. Udom succeeds Uwemedimo Nwoko who was recently elevated to the position of a Senior Advocate of Nigeria by the Nigerian Judiciary.
Other Commissioners and their portfolios released on Monday by the SSG are: Mr. Akan Okon, Ministry of Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport; Pastor Umo Bassey Eno, Ministry of Lands & Water Resources;
Uko Essien Udom, Ministry of Justice & Attorney General.
