The Akwa Ibom state governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has paid a condolence visit to the Nigerian Police Force, Akwa Ibom state command over recent killing of police officers in the State.

The Dune learnt that 21 police officers have been killed in the state in the last two months in what is said to be targeted attack on security officers and police facilities.

Speaking at the command headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Governor Emmanuel condoled with the Commissioner of Police, CP Andrew Amiengheme, over the loss of men and assets in recent attacks in the State.

The press unit, office of the Commissioner for Information and Strategy reports that the Governor announced a donation of N60 million to families of the police officers who lost their breadwinners in the attacks.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Andrew Amiengheme, said 21 personnel have been killed, 11 vehicles and seven guns have been lost.

CP Amiengheme thanked the Governor for the visit and donation, saying the visit has boost the morale of the men and officers in the command.

The Police Commissioner said the command will do everything within her powers to bring an end to the new wave of criminality in the state.
