A team to verify federal projects done by the Rivers state government has arrived Port Harcourt on facts finding.
Leader of the federal government projects’ verification team and Minister of State for Education, Mr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, was received at government house, Port Harcourt on Monday 24th February, by Governor Nyesom Wike.
Nwajiuba told the Governor that the team was in the state on the order of the federal executive council to verify federal projects which the Rivers state government said it had undertaken.

Welcoming the team, Governor Wike expressed hope that the federal government will refund the money spent by the state on those projects.
“I thank the federal government for at least coming to verify our claims. We submitted our claims, while some other states have been paid, but we are hopeful.
“We have been submitting several documents on the issue of projects that were executed by the Rivers state government for the federal government. We believe that by this verification visit, we will get paid.”

He said most of the federal projects in question were executed by Peter Odili and Rotimi Amaechi administrations.
Wike said the state hopes to get a refund on those project to channel it into pressing needs of the state.
