The 4th edition of the Annual Public Lecture of Oodua Youth Coalition (OYC) held at the Archbishop Soremekun Memorial Hall, Lagos has come and gone.
It was a well attended event which gave prominent Nigerians the opportunity to add their voices to international issues.
The event was indeed, an assembly of opinion leaders, public servants, progressive youths, and policy makers who came in their numbers to add colour to the eventful programme.
The theme of the public lecture; “Insecurity in Nigeria, the place of justice and equity”, which seeks to address the prevailing security challenges in Nigeria was thoroughly delivered by the Guest Speaker, Chief. Femi Falana (SAN), who delivered his lecture via zoom.

Falana emphasized the need for a new constitution and the return of Nigeria to a true federating unit.
He highlighted the role of justice and equity in building the confidence of the citizenry, thereby aiding them to play their roles in the security of lives and properties.
Keynote Speaker, Dr. Bunmi Ademosu harped on the need for unity and devolution of power as a panacea to the various challenges facing the country
She noted that Nigeria is overdue for a return to true federalism.
Leader of pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, who served as the Father of the day, appreciated the thoughtfulness of the youth group in rallying Yoruba youths for National discourse and development.
He urged them not to relent in positioning themselves for the developmental task ahead.
Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye, in his address expressed the need for local government autonomy as an effective means to avert the current security challenges.
He opined that insecurity can be better addressed from our respective domains.
Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who represented the Ondo State Governor, while responding on behalf of the Governor who was honoured with the “Akoni Oodua” for his bravery in tackling insecurity in the Southwest, appreciated the group and encouraged them to continue the giant stride of unifying the youth populace.
The Kegite Club of Nigeria was well represented at the event.
