The Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Adesina Soyemi, has met with traditional rulers and leaders of Fulani communities in the State.

The meeting is part of the “proactive steps aimed at preventing the infiltration of criminals into the State and to reduce pockets of incidents of crime in Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Areas”, ASP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer in Nasarawa State said.

The meeting held at State Police Command headquarter, Shendam road, Lafia, was attended by traditional rulers, Fulani elders/Ardos and various stakeholders from Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon Local Government areas.

CP Soyemi urged the traditional rulers and community leaders to work with the police to stamp out crimes from the State particularly the three affected local government areas.

The CP was reported to have said that pockets of crimes and criminalities being perpetrated in the three local government areas are done by people within or in collaboration with them thus, calling on the traditional rulers to cooperate and work in synergy with the Police and bring out their subjects whom are collaborating with criminals to cause havoc in the State.

Responding, the Chun Mada, Mr. Samson Gamuyare appreciated the Commissioner of Police for calling this meeting that is timely and apt; he said crimes in the area were a result of conspiracy within and assured the Nasarawa State Police Command of the continuous support and collaboration of all traditional rulers in the three local governments and the State in general.

Furthermore, it was unanimously agreed that the Fulanis and other locals will be involved in the fight against criminals in the three local government areas and the State in general.

It was agreed that there will be increased deployment of security personnel and surveillance to frustrate the infiltration of travelling criminals into the State while resident criminals will be decisively dealt with.

The meeting also agreed that there should be a rejigging of the police divisions at Akwanga, Gudi, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon for greater efficiency.

Present at the meeting was the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioners of Police in-charge of Finance and administration and Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, Divisional Police officers of Akwanga and Nasarawa Eggon, Chun Mada, Arren Eggon Eru, Chun Nku, Chun ga, Sagarin Iga, Fulani elders/Ardos, District and village heads.
