The Nasarawa State Chairman of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini has been killed.

He was reportedly killed on Friday alongside the Toto local government chairman of MACBAN, Mallam Mohammed Umar, in Garaku, a town in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa state.

Our sources said Mallam Mohammed Umar, was sitting with Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini when gunmen stormed the place and reigned bullets on them.

“They were killed inside the garage in the market because yesterday was market day in Garaku. The State Chairman was shot severally on his head and chest until he died. The Toto LGA Chairman was trying to run away when he was shot by the gunmen. They came with a white hilux vehicle with no plate number (sic) and reigned bullets at the Chairmen. The incident happened at 7:30 pm,” he said.

Our correspondent learnt that the two chairmen were probably having a meeting to discuss modalities for the state election of the association which is billed for later this year.

It was gathered from some members of the association that the association has been polarised ahead of the election, with different strong interests playing up.

Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ramhan Nansel explained in a Press Release that Gunmen suspected to be Fulani Bandits attacked and killed the Miyetti Allah State Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Hussaini and Mallam Mohammed Umar, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah of Toto LGA at Garaku market.

“On 2/4/2021 at about 1930hrs, information was received that unknown gunmen suspected to be Fulani Bandits attacked and killed one Mohammed Hussaini, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Nasarawa State and Mohammed Umar, the Chairman, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Toto LGA at Garaku market.

“Upon receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bola Longe swiftly deployed Operation Puff Adder II personnel to the scene where the two corpses were recovered and taken to the hospital; the corpses were deposited at Anthony memorial Mortuary for post Mortem examination after being confirmed dead by a medical Doctor,” he said.

ASP Nansel explained that the Commissioner of Police is deeply pained by the incident and condoled with the deceased families.

The PPRO assured members of the public that the Police Command will do all within its powers to bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book while calling on them to always assist the Police with useful information that will help them serve the people better.
