A community in Ikot Oduot, Atai Nung Udo Mbokot, Ibesikpo Asutan local government area, Akwa Ibom state, has elected Obong Ndueso Robson Akpan Ikut, as her new head.
Obong Akpan Ikut was elected at the Atai Nung Udo Mbokot town hall ground Nung Atai Udo Mbokot on Saturday May 29, 2021.
The election was witnessed the heads and representatives of the four families that make up Atai Nung Udo Mbokot in Ikot Oduot community.

Obong Ndueso Robson Akpan Ikut scored 145 votes against 10 votes scored by Mr. Uwem Ime Umo. Another contender for the post, Mr. Aniefiok Ikpe Eiweh, stepped down and moved his supporters and voted for Obong Ndueso Robson Akpan Ikut.
Atai Nung Udo Mbokot in Ikot Oduot is made up of four families namely, Nung Abasi, Nung Akwa, Nung Adiaha Umoinyang and Nung Akpan Umoren.
The headship of community is rotated among the families.
Following the passing of the former head, Obong Ndueso Robson Akpan Ikut from Nung Akpan Umoren, has been elect to head the community.
Presenting the newly elected head, Obong Ikut, to the people were the family head of Nung Abasi, Obong Okon Sam Okon; that of Nung Akwa, Obong Uwem Ekpenyong; Nung Akpan Umoren, Obong Michael Ben and a representative of Nung Adiaha Umoinyang, Obong Enefiok Okon Ekpo.
They assured Obong Ikut their supports for his successful tenure.
The family heads said prior to the election, wide consultations were made between the Nung Akpan Umoren family and Atai Nung Udo Mbokot, whose turn it was to present a nominee for election for the village headship to fill the vacuum created by the demise of the former community head.

Speaking with our community reporter, Frank Sunday, Obong Ndueso Robson Akpan Ikut noted that the rulership of Nung Udo Mbokot Ibesikpo is an ancient stood which is monarchical in nature, thanked his people for electing him for the seat.
“Obong Nung Udo Mbokot is an ancient stood which the Obong rules till he dies before another person takes over. Other three families have had their turn and now is the turn of Nung Akpan Umoren and my people deem it fit to elect me for the position. That is the reason you see the display of unity this morning” he said.
Obong Ikut said his administration will be fair and just to all members of the community and would work hard to lead the people to God as well as programmes that will be bring development to the community and uplift the social and economic status of the people.
The event featured the official presentation of Mr. Mbuotidem Ekong, as the youth leader of the Atai Nung Udo Mbokot.
