The Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro Chapter, Mr Akpituren M.B. America has died in a motor accident along Ogwashi-Uku/Asaba express way.
The accident occurred around 3pm on Sunday 24 May 2020.
This reporter gathered that Mr Akpituren M.B. was a popular and dogged lecturer of Civil Engineering Department in the Polytechnic and also doubles as the ASUP Chairman of DSPZ Chapter, one of the patrons of National Association of Itsekiri Students(NAIS).

He was also a patron of National Association of Aniocha-Oshimili Students (NAAOS) DSPZ Chapter respectively, and also a Senior Staff Adviser to the Man’O’War Command in DSPZ, before the fatal accident that took his lives on Sunday afternoon.
It was learnt that the accident involved Mr Akpituren vehicle, a Toyota Highlander jeep belonging to the Polytechnic ASUP with registration number Delta DT348A06 – a blue coloured truck conveying goods to an unknown destination.
Source said the accident may have been caused by brake failure and over speeding by drivers of both vehicles involved in the road crash.

As at the time of filing the report, the remise of the deceased Mr Akpituren M. B. has been deposit in an undisclosed morgue.
When contacted Public Relation Officer of the Polytechnic, Mr Boniface Ogarayen confirmed the report, saying, “It so painful that we lost Mr Akpituren M. B. America to a fatal accident along Ogwashi-Uku/ Asaba expressway. But I am not still clear with the causes of the accident.” He said.
