The Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State has accused Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, of using Amotekun to siphon state funds under the guise of security vote.
The Party in a press statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Ikantu Peretei, stated that the security network in the state is porous and criminals are having their way everywhere in the 18 local government areas.
“Of the whooping N1 billion of taxpayers money taken by the Governor monthly as security vote, we want Akeredolu to explain how such money is spent to secure the lives of people of Ondo State. The money is simply shared by members of Akeredolu’s immediate family at the detriment of the people.”
“At this time of the year, every serious minded government that has genuine interest of the citizens at heart is expected to beef up security ahead of the festive season. But what we have seen is a lackadaisical attitude of the Governor, leading to the withdrawal of the soldiers from the check points.”

“We expect him instead of churning out meaningless Press Statements, to attend to the security needs of the people. He cannot be playing politics with security of lives of people of the state.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Donald Ojogo, has said the people of the State should wave aside the utterances of the PDP saying they are only playing cheap politics.
Ojogo said Governor Akeredolu is commuted to entrenching adequate security across the State.
