Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has frowned at the nonchalant attitude exhibited by Ondo State residents in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.

Akeredolu disclosed this today at the State Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) Igbatoro, Akure during the donation of some COVID-19 relief materials by the Coalition Against COVID-19 (CAC) Group to the Ondo State Government.

The governor who was represented by the Ondo State Chief of Staff, Chief Olugbenga Ale appreciated the kind gesture of the Coalition Against COVID-19 for the timely donation, and how important it is to the State at this critical time the Country is passing through.

“This is a gesture which will linger on in the mind of the State Government and the people in the State for a long time to come because it came at the present time of need. The committee put in place for the fight against COVID-19 has done a lot, which has been regarded as a plus”

“I appeal to the citizens of the State to apply strict measures and application to the rules and regulations laid down in fighting COVID-19. We are behaving as if there is nothing at stake, as if the fight is over. It is not over. Let us continue to wash our hands regularly, using of face mask, social distancing and using of sanitizer always” he said.

Also speaking, Commissioner of Health, Mr Wahab Adegbenro said COVID-19 is real, and all measures to ensure there is a stop to it in the State are being embarked on.

“We anticipate more donations from individuals, Organisations, and non governmental agencies in fighting COVID-19. Government is trying, more donations will help the State in ensuring the treatment of every affected persons effectively” he said.

The head of Coalition Against COVID-19, Mr. Akinbode Akinola presented 25 Sphygmomanometer, 100 beds and accessories, 25 oxymeters, 5 bedside monitors to the Ondo State Government as a way to reduce the contamination of COVID-19 in the State.

“The donation of these items to the State Government is a way of showing how much we value lives, and how those who are affected already be treated effectively to get well on time” he said.
