The National Board for Technical Education, has tasked Polytechnic students across the country to develop a constant reading culture in order to contribute meaningfully to the society when they graduate from their respective institutions.

The NBTE Director of Polytechnic Programmes, Arch. Ngede Ogoh, gave the charge on Thursday at the end of its Resource Inspection visit to Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, for the accreditation of Higher National Diploma Programmes in the institution.

Ogoh, who led other team members to the institution, and was represented by Amina Sa’id, said reading culture amongst students of institutions was important to national development because ‘readers are future leaders’.

While assuring the management and staff of Nacabs Polytechnic of the continuous support of the NBTE, Ogoh thanked the founder of the institution, David Abuluya for his efforts towards providing quality education to many Nigerians in the institution.

“I can assure you that Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga has the full support of the NBTE. We will uplift the school considering the importance of education to human and societal development,” he added.

“I want to express my gratitude to the NBTE for the successful resource inspection for the accreditation of four HND programmes. You have done an excellent job and I want to assure you that I will not rest in providing quality education to students of this institution,” he said.

Earlier, the consultant to Nacabs Polytechnic, Augustine Ifejika, while applauding the staff of the institution for their efforts towards ensuring that the school maintains its standards, said the accreditation process was not a witch hunt exercise but to ensure that the right things are done for the overall development of the education sector of the country.
