Video: Lagosians hit by police stray bullet

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, Lagos state branch has petitioned the Lagos State Commissioner of Police demanding N15 million compensation each for two Lagosians hit by police bullet.

Mr. Mutui Rasaq and Mr. Monday Joseph were hit by stray bullet allegedly fired by policemen from Akinpelu police station, Oshodi, Lagos State.

Policemen from the station reportedly shot sporadically on 18th May to disperse Okada riders whose operations have been banned in Lagos State.

“On the 18th of May 2021 at exactly 9.45pm, Mr. Mutiu Rasaq and Mr. Monday Joseph went out to buy food in Orile link to Ishola Daniel street while returning from the days hectic work. They coincidentally heard sporadic gunshot which eventually hit them and were rushed to Long Life Hospital Owoseni street Oshodi and Lagos state Teaching Hospital respectfully.”

“The incident occurred when the team of police officers were raiding Okada riders. The level of brutality and atrocities of the police officers at Akinpelu police station need urgent actions.

“We as concerned rights activists hereby implore the Lagos state police command adjudged a reliable organization with responsible officers to investigate the matter and ensure that the victims are well compensated with the sum of N15,000,000, especially now that they have been deformed and they are both in critical condition.”
