JosEfforts to have a hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Plateau State have received a boost as the State Police Command, the Zonal Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps as well as the State Command of the FRSC have deployed personnel to check human and vehicular excesses which could hinder the celebration.

While the Police deployed over 2,000 personnel, the FRSC deployed over 3,000 personnel to work between Tuesday and Monday next week to curtail violation of road traffic rules.

Zonal Public Education Officer, Zone RS4, RC Olusegun Owoeye and State Public Education Officer, RC Andrew Bala in separate statements on behalf of their principals stated disclosed modalities deployed to ensure a hitch-free celebration.

Uba noted, “The Plateau State Police Command solicits the cooperation of the peace-loving people/residents of Plateau State in the maintenance of law and order during the festivities.

“In order to ensure adequate security and safety of citizens during the celebration; the Command shall deploy a total of 2,161 personnel to detect and prevent crime as well as control traffic. There will be prayers on all Eid grounds, Area/Ward Mosques exception of the Rukuba Road praying ground.

“Muslim faithfuls should adhere to Covid19 protocols such as Social distancing, use of hand sanitizers and wearing of face mask etc as the

Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 will be moving round to ensure compliance.

“There is a total ban on the use of tricycles during these periods within Jos and Bukuru metropolis. All recreational centers such as the National Museum, Zoo, Wildlife Park, etc in the State will be closed down for Wednesday 12th and Thursday, 13th May, 2021.”

He urged members of the public to “be security conscious, give useful and timely information to the Police and other security agencies in order to curtail the pre-sallah illegal activities of Sara-Suka and other cult groups.”

Owoeye whose principal, ACM Wobin Gora just resumed duty at the Zone 4 Command comprising Plateau, Benue and Nasarawa States stressed, “The Zonal Commanding Officer, ACM Wobin Gora approved the deployment of 3,077 personal comprising of 1,969 Regular and 1,108 Special Marshal to be engaged in traffic management, prompt rescue services, clearing of obstructions, public education and enforcement during Eid-e-Fitr.

“The focus of the Operation includes tackling speeding and dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, use of phone while driving, lane indiscipline, route violation, road bbstructions, overloading, illegal use of SPY/ number plate violation.

“Driving under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicant, seat belt/child restraint use violation, operation of mechanical deficient and rickety vehicles, worn out tyres violation and windshield violation amongst others.”

Bala added, “the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Alphonsus Godwin has deployed 766 regular Marshals and 689 Special Marshals to arrest serious road traffic challenges, such as road traffic crashes, gridlock, obstructions, insecurity within the nook and cranny in the State.”

The FRSC encouraged the public to follow the FRSC National Traffic Radio 107.1 Fm Abuja for traffic updates and FRSC Toll Free Number: 122 in case of emergency and appealed to motorists and other road users to drive safely.
