Miffed by the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 in Ughelli North Local Government Area, the council chairman, Hon. Godwin Adode, has banned use of public schools for burials, marriages, birthdays and other ceremonies, saying defaulters will be dealt with.

Adode expressed readiness of the council to enforce the compulsory use of face mask by market women and members of the public in his area.

The council chairman made this known in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday June 29, 2020, stressing, henceforth anyone who want to conduct burial, marriage, birthday and other ceremonies must notify and get approval from the council.

According to him, market women and members of the public must wear face mask and observed all NCDC’s guidelines.

He noted that churches are not left out of the operation wear your face mask order, adding that churches with large members should share their services into two to three in order for social distancing to be properly observed among members.

Adode stressed that in the transport sector, he had advised their leaders to adhere strictly to the directives of the state government.

He admonished hotel owners to stop holding parties in their premises and make available hand sanitizers for customers who want to lodge. “I am saying this because most of the hotels no longer have sanitizers but only hand washing buckets”.

While revealing that within the week, all state government appointee will storm the markets and streets to sensitize the public on the need to adhere to COVID-19 guidelines, he said anyone found violating the COVID-19 laws will be dealt with by the council’s task force.
